Jon, Margaret, Terry and Judi rented a car to drive around and see the area. We did the "Clark Griswold" version of sightseeing: Ben & Jerry's factory - check; Stowe - check; Von Trapp Family Lodge - check; Shelbourne Museum - wait, this is really cool! We've got to see all of this!! Twenty-five buildings on 45 acres, something for everyone. We set off in different directions and shared our findings with each other at another spectacular dinner at Shelbourne Farms. Have you Googled this place yet? NO?? Why not??
The Shelbourne Museum is a unique experience. There's a 1950's house completely furnished with all the items you'll remember from your childhood. There is a "Round Barn", apparently unique to this area of the country. The SS Ticonderoga, the last of the side-wheel steamers, has been restored and rests on the property. There is a large Adsel Adams photography exhibit, and many Monet's. A lighthouse and a huge circus exhibit. These are just a few of the many exhibits in the museum. The ticket entitles you to visit on two days and you could easily spend that much time on the museum property. Many people had recommended a visit and we concur. Definitely worth the time.
